Abstract:  

A travel narrative devoted in part to travels in Spain and to descriptions of Montevideo and Buenos Aires. One-half of the work is the author's relation of a trip through Paraguay, visiting various mission pueblos. He provides a general description of life, education, and Christian teaching for the Indians. Includes lists of Jesuits at various missions.

Volume one includes an account of a voyage from England to St. Petersburg and of a journey from thence by Moscow through Poland to meet the Russian army. Plates consist chiefly of plans of battle fields. Volume one contains also List of expenses in the German language. A short index to various articles that are not in the volume. Project de commerce entre l'Angleterre et la Russie. Oraison funebre prononcé a St. Petersbourg le 10 Mars, 1725 a l'occasion de la lort de Pierre le Grand...par M. Theoplane... Volume two includes a section entitled "Literæ processus ssmi domini nostri Clementis--Papæ XII."

Abstract:  

Written from China to his family, the letters of James Bancker contain descriptions of the social life of the Americans and English in China, of Hong Kong after the British acquisition of that place, and of anti-British riots in Canton. A long letter describes the outward voyage from New York to Canton; several letters given an account of a visit to the Philippines; and there is a partial journal of Bancker's return home through the Red Sea.
